The first step to become a California Notary Public is education. You are required to take a six hour Notary class offered by a vendor approved by the Secretary of State. Notary classes may be taken in person, online or by using a home study course. All materials for approved classes have been reviewed and accepted by the State of California office of the Secretary of State. How to become a Notary Public starts with qualifications. If you are qualified then choosing a Notary class is the beginning of the process to become a California Notary Public. There are seven steps in that process. A career as a Notary Public may enhance your value to your employer. You may also start your OWN Notary Public business where you get to set your own hours. You can offset your start up costs and operating expenses against your income. Notary fees are not subject to Social Security taxes which is good news to a small business owner as you will only need to pay taxes on your income! A small investment may lead to an exciting new source of revenue. |
